Apologies for being away so long - life has been catching up with me!

Sandi has been a good blogging buddy and has sparked me back into posting again!!!

1: The Lady Vanishes (1938) Margaret Lockwood, Michael Redgrave, wonderful film - FABULOUS!
2: The Love Letter, I really like this film, the second hand bookshop - who wouldn't want to live in a place called Loblolly-by-the-sea!!!!
3: Any of the Die Hards, sometimes you just need explosions!
4: Meet me in St Louis - I just love this film, love, love, love it

2: A friend's boyfriend, he is a patronising, officious, slimey, sycophantic, obsequious, toadying git. The only reason I shan't is that he appears to be devoted to her and will do anything for her. He's still a git though
3: Someone who works for the same organisation as me, who has a habit of taking the credit for things he does not have the right to, in front of the people who should get the credit and I really dislike him. I actually do wish to kick him severely, however, like my friends, boyfriend, I don't think I'd be able to stop, it is a good job I'm not armed this is all I'm saying!!!
4: People who don't know me, who patronisingly call you Luv, or darlin' or worse, girl - ARGHHHHHHHHHHH

1: Kleftiko - love all Greek food - but in the best Greek restaurant in Liverpool Eureka - it is AMAZING!!!
2: Hot pot or Scouse!!!
3: Brussel sprouts - or cabbage - fried with pancetta, garlic, onions and mushrooms!
4: A good fruit cake!

Where I want to be right now

1: Where I am now - at Ma's with my family (apart from Bertie - who could come and visit too!!)
2: In Scotland somewhere wild in a little cottage with a fire, the radio, fresh bread baking in the oven and a nice hairy man in a jumper.... :-)
3: London, in the Ritz having afternoon tea with my friends
4: New York, visiting the museums and galleries and and every bookshop and fabric store known to man!

Things I'm looking forward to this year

1: Going to London at the end of the month to meet up with Sally
2: Working on the Library expansion!!
3: Getting my Garden sorted
4: Whatever surprises it has to bring!

Mummy dearest has tagged me in the middle name game! She has however gone and nicked my middle name.... so I'm going to have to think of something completely different to do with the whole Z thing!!! So... Sarah Elizabeth.... what are you going to put....

E... is for Eccentricity. It is VERY important in my life, all the people I like best are and I aspire to greater depths of it myself.
L... is for Learning. I think Learning is a thing of wonder, people are never to old or young to do it. It is important to me because I'm curious about so many things I can't possibly imagine what it would be like to live in the world and not want to know more, not want to know how and why things happen
I... is for Insects. In my current job, I'm learning all about them, I tell you there are some places in this world where you just wouldn't want to go... there are some ickky things out there!
Z... is for Zeitgeist. I know this is important to me as people who talk about films and books I like mention it in their reviews................ ;-)
A... is for Adaptability. As we all know the best laid plans of mice and men and all that...I thought I'd be an engineer living in the states working for Nasa with a movie star husband now (oh the imagination of youth eh?!!!) well I'm actually very glad life didn't turn out like that. Librarianship is an ever changing profession it isn't the same since I embarked upon it 10 years ago, so adaptability is important to me.
B... is for Books. My life seems to revolve round them, reading them, suggesting them, purchasing them, cataloguing them and looking after them... I'm not quite sure what I'd do without 'em!
E... is for Everyone in my circle of family and friends, they is important and that is as icky as I'm gonna get on that one!
T... is for Tea. Well it is the main premise behind this blog, my love of tea and the whole of the ritual of afternoon tea.
H... is for Happiness. Happiness is important to me, I know we all have to take the rough with the smooth, but slap a smile on it, listen to a fabby tune, watch a fave film, I say, happiness is as happiness does, there is no room for constant eeyoreness in my life!

One thing at a time

It seems whilst I’ve been off being a busy lady, I’ve been gathering a backlog of tasks to complete. I’ve decided I’m going to tackle them one at a time.

Task no. 1 Gill and Jo have both tagged me for 8 more things…. So here we go….

8 Random Facts

1: I think I’m the only person in the UK who is glad that the weather has not been good over the summer.

2: I love Louis Armstong and Ella Fitzgerald, I love Django Reinhardt and Stephane Graphelli too. If I could only have two CD’s to listen to for the rest of my life – it would be one by each pairing as much as it would pain me to give up the Divine Comedy.

3: I’ve never been to the USA. I want to go to Connecticut or New England for the Autumn and Winter, but sometimes I don’t want to because if it isn’t like Baby Boom (especially the scene at the dance – Moonlight in Vermont is one of my favourite songs) and Little Women rolled into one then I don’t want to be disappointed.

4: I adore being up late at night or early in the morning on my own especially in the winter. I love Autumn and Winter and I quite like spring – summer –mmmmphhhh – you can keep it.

5: I think I’d make a great character in Northern Exposure. I’d adore that kind of life where people are quirky and accepting. Plus you’d get to wake up in a place where it snows early in the morning (see no.4)

6: I live in a dream world 50% of the time – it’s partly a coping mechanism for the aspects of the world I don’t like, and partly….well it’s more pleasant there, I only generally come out for work!

7: I like being a Librarian, or rather I like being an unexpected Librarian most people don’t believe me when I tell them what I do (I like that) though to be honest, If I had my time again and I could get in, I’d go to art school and then do something businessy and live in a whole different way. All I have to do now is work out how to get “there” from “here” (dream world again)

8: I like Liverpool honest I do, its just I can’t imagine how much longer I’m going to able to live here without losing something.

Randomness...mmmmmm

I've been tagged... again... this time by Sophie Honeysuckle... the task... well I have to reveal eight random things about me.

so here we go...

1: I absolutely cannot work pencil sharpeners, don't know why... just can't
2: I'm a soppy romantic and it takes very little to make me cry with happiness.... an old couple crossing the road hand in hand... a kitten sneezing... its a curse let me tell you
3: I have an absolutely filthy mind, I tell jokes that make grown men blush which I blame on my father and my uncle for teaching me rugby songs.... (so does my mother)
4: I have a huge crush on Stephen Fry, he is my ideal man..... apart from the fact he takes the train rather than the bus
5: I love really bad action films, Steven Segal, Die Hard, Lethal Weapon...
6: I worry I have OCD... I have set routines for doing strange stuff including the fact I check that I have all my cards in my purse every night before I go to bed... I've even practised getting out of my house with my eyes shut in the dark in case there was ever an emergency... (I can't believe I've just posted that...)
7: Despite the fact I'd love to have a houseful of children I've never pictured myself married or with a partner, its always just been me and the children...
8: I've done well in my career up to this point, but other than applying for jobs I've never, ever actively planned it out...

I hope that they aren't too bad, but they are indeed random so in that respect fulfill requirements!!! I will post tomorrow about the FABULOUS Mbira bag mum has knitted for me, its a karmic thing - I knitted Sopher's!

I have to post seven weird/unusual things about me....

apart from the fact that I think I'm perfectly normal (ahem) I was quite surprised when this list took shape.....

1: I'm a great queuer... point me in the direction of a queue and I'm happy, I don't know why its no good asking me.

2: I once frightened myself with my own elbow, quite a feat I must say it really isn't that scary most of the time

3: I cannot name any object when I'm completely flapped, in fact my sister tries to make me which causes much hilarity for her and makes me even worse!

4: I will happily ask for train tickets in Italian, in Italy yet will not order a pizza from the takeaway in English in England (phoning for takeaway scares me, I have no idea why)

5: I have NO shame. I'll sing and dance anywhere my speciality being pubs, supermarkets, car parks.... (anywhere really) And mostly its only me who knows the songs in the first place

6: I still try to look after my "baby" brother and sister and organise them, when in reality its (probably) me that needs looking after and organising.

7: I didn't actually come up with any of these myself, I asked friends and relatives for their opinions, as I actually think I'm very normal!
