I wanna be in the double-ewe eye !!!

It has been a source of discussion in the house of Ma that we wanna join the WI, especially after watching the WI series that they are showing on BBC 4...(did you see it - oh the power struggles!) One of Mum's neighbours is in a local group and if she agrees she might have 4 new members, Sophie, Mum, me and another local blogger (what say you Jo????) We'd be great at cakes and mass catering....am I being wierd wanting to join the WI when only 30.... (is Sophers mad at 26???!!!) They might not want us yet.... Watch this space!

As of daft o'clock this morning Sophers was winging her way to Togo, via Paris. I've added the link of the group leader under Togo watch, he has promised to blog lots so keep your eyes peeled for news!

Thanks for all the cheer up well wisher commenters and e-mailers, I've now pulled up my socks and I'm ready to take on the world one cup of tea at a time!!!! (poor world!!!)

Oh yes, yes, yes! I'm on for the WI! (And I'm nearly 40, so I must be eligible!)
Also, do you want me to remind you that weird is spelled wrongly? That is, i before e except after c and in weird? Yes, I know, somedays the teacher just shines out, but you can tell me to go forth and multiply if you like.
Yes, I did have a spelling mistake in the last comment so I cancelled it. Wanna make somethin of it?

PS Love the hipper crowd of shushers.... but haven't librarians always had the 'superman syndrome', where they take off their glasses, let down their hair and are transformed into cool?

Oh I don't think you're mad for wanting to join the WI at all, it has always appealed to me too (or maybe that just means we are all mad?). Anyway Sarah, think of the cakes!!!

I loved the article about the cool shushers - no talking in Dewey now!

I'm looking forward to following Sophie's trip in Africa.

Your Mum came and told me off, nicely I have to say, for correcting your spelling. She says I can only play WI with you if I don't correct her spelling mistakes. Does she make many?
Do you think I ought to apologise? And who to, you or her? Or both? Can I put my apologies here and know she will read and understand and will you still be talking to me. Oh God, I've just committed the first sin of being a teacher; I've acted like one outside of the classroom. The next thing you know is, I'll send your Christmas card (assuming you even send me one this year) back to you with any errors outlined in red pen... or send you to the corner when you laugh too loudly.... or tell you to stand outside the office as a disruptive influence....
The worst place to act like a teacher outside the classroom is with your husband's boss. Thank God I didn't do that again! Apologies (again) and have a good week!

Not any stranger than I am for wanting to join the American "Red Hat Society"! Are you familiar with it? They are ladies all above the age of 55, who get together in big gaudy red hats and have teas an gossip sessions. Fun! :-)

hi sarah, last month was my first visit to the W.I they were very enthusiastic to have someone as young as me there!! We sang jerusalem, but didnt learn how to make jam, which i found sad. they didnt do a lot at the meeting really, it was just to organize days out which were in the week when most of the younger generation are at work!! I havent seen the film, what is it? sounds more exciting than the real thing ?? let us know how you get on,

After watching the Tv programme 'WI' I thought,That looks quite fun and interesting, Although I fear that not many of the WI groups are actually like that, (and im sure not many are like the film, lol!)
