First Swap Excitement

I've started the prep for my first swap thanks to the Lovely Angel Jem! I'm still not sure what it will entail properly, however I know which route I'm going to take with my bookmark(s) they shall be experimental (so apologies to the poor person/people that receive them!)

In other news I saw some AMAZING fireworks along the river mersey last night. There were 20,000 set off in three minutes to celebrate the opening of an exhibition at the Tate Liverpool. When I FINALLY remember to have my camera and the cable to download to the PC in the same location I shall post some pics!!!

I'm very much looking forward to the weekend, I'm going to finish the bunting (I hope) and get working on some surprises for my Mum's upcoming birthday and retirement party and drink pots of tea!. I still have no idea what I'm going to get her as a pressie though.... I'm hoping Sophers and Bert will have some bright ideas although I'm open to suggestions!

Have a great weekend everyone!

I know I promised

I promised a photo post extravaganza... unfortunately I neglected to bring the disk with the software to download the photos.... (silly Sarah) so it will have to wait until my next post.

I'm looking forward to a nice civilised weekend. I'm off to the Lark Lane Farmers market on Saturday with my Mum and Sister where we shall buy lots of nice goodies and have a lovely lunch with what we get! There is a stall that sells homemade preserves and jellies and jams and chutneys - I got some medlar jelly there last time - GORGEOUS - especially with cold cuts. They go to all the farmers markets including Hope St I think so if you are of the scouse persuasion get thee to see them!! (they even give you a little discount when you bring the Jars back!! - how cool is that!)

Have a good one all!

Cookin' on Gas

It finally happened. I've got myself a camera. I'm going to remember to bring the camera with me to take some photo's soon! I have a few action shots of Sophie playing mbira as requested by Jem! They aren't bad for a first go, but its going to be a good long while before I'm David Bailey!

I'm all excited and I'm seeing things everywhere that I want to photograph now, even more than I did... is that normal or will it wear off?????

I also had an exciting shopping trip at lunchtime. I bought some gorgeous pie dishes in pink and blue in the marvelous lunchtime destination of TJ Hughes! For only 3 and 4 pounds respectively they are a bargain too! I'm going to have to make some pies now!! - mmm Apple and Blackberry...... Okay... hungry now....

Here's to tomorrow and hopefully my first picture posting!!!!!

Self inflicted

I need some sympathy today... last night I was "duped" into drinking far too much by some colleagues and I am now feeling the after-effects. We only went out "for our tea" and that was it... sitting on a bench eating chips from the paper putting the world to rights and falling into the house at 1 this morning. Only to do it all again today because my baby blister is having her work leaving do... and then.... well it's St Patricks tomorrow.... an institution in Liverpool, It would be rude not to........ (wouldn't it..?)!!!! These are the days when I'm glad I have my little office to retreat to!

Well Red nose day is here once again. I've put my bright red lippy on to celebrate as I can't see the screen past the nose! We are having a quiz at lunch time so lots of opportunity for friendly rivalry all whilst raising money for a charity that does some amazing work.

So is anyone out there up to anything exciting for red nose day or the weekend?

Colour

It seems to me that colour is the most wonderful thing. I was browsing through a beautiful magazine last night... and much as I enjoyed it and I thought most of the places looked amazing. They were all fairly bland. I'm not one for painting the walls mad colours, but everything I own seems to clash! I don't mind this too much, because everything I've got serves some purpose or I think is great (plus lots of other stuff which I'm just too darn lazy to throw out at the moment!!!)

So I'm having a celebrating colour day from my dark red sofa with its purple cushions and patchwork throw to my pink roberts radio and mossy green coffee cups and the gorgeous orangy - pink tulips on the mantlepiece in the chipped cornishware pot!

It seems most appropriate on the most lovely of "spring" days!!!!

All ready for the new week!...?

I've had a great weekend, a reasonably drunken birthday night out on Friday led to a relatively hangover free Saturday I'm pleased to report. (It was VERY strange seeing my siblings, friends and colleagues together in the pub...)

We ended up in a seventies bar.... too much drinking led to mad dancing and the liberation of the DJ's afro wig (Debs... and we all thought you were so quiet.....!... It did suit you though!) So I'm not sure that they'll let us in there again!

We also sang for the Taxi Driver on the way home too... I don't think he enjoyed it much, but we did! He'll always remember the day a gang of drunken "ladies" attempted to sing the black hills of dakota in harmony in the back of the taxi rather unsuccessfully me thinks, still it was free entertainment for him.

I'm still in bunting limbo too.... I have sooo much more to make, 5 weeks on Saturday.... I'd better get a move on!

Oooh its a long week

I'd forgotten just how hard it is to come back to work after a holiday..... all this getting up first thing in the morning malarkey - I really don't like it! It has to be said my natural state is night owl, I get a second wind at about 7.30 pm and I have to force myself to go to bed at a sensible hour otherwise I'd be up until 3 in the morning.

So please keep your fingers crossed that I win the lottery this evening, I'd love to be a lady of leisure and I'm a charitable soul, so I'd make sure I spread the wealth around a bit too!

One of the simple indulgences I'd really love is a freshly made bed everyday, with nice lavender scented pillows....

... anyone any other suggestions for the cash.......

New Decade

I am in denial no more... it has hit... as of 7.30 this morning 30 years ago today I decided to show my face (my mother tells me... after 30+ hours of agony... I'm not sure if she has decided it was worth it yet ;-)!!! I'm now officially, well in my terms anyhow, an adult. I'm hoping that this does not mean I'll start wearing beige and become obsessed with Cliff... still its a new era of possibilities, I'm lucky to be here and be healthy and here's to the next thirty!

I've had a wonderful break. Mbira camp was AMAZING! I met lots of lovely people and revisited some others I've met before. I learned so much it was untrue and I've come back with three new songs to irritate my neighbours with! (not to mention the gourd shakers I'm planning on getting to practice hosho!!! - I think I'm the neighbour from hell... I'll be featured on one of those programmes I'm sure!.... the phantom shaker player from old Liverpool town!) I'm hoping that I'll be able to post some piccies when I get some e-mailed to me from the people with cameras. Thanks again to the lovely Eve and James who picked me up and dropped me off and put up with me in the car for a total of 14 hours (you will get your rewards in a better place lads!)

I suppose I'd better get on with it then, lots to catch up on, nearly 150 e-mails to do something with, birthday or no birthday!
