Getting Quite Excited ...

I have, since last May been TRYING to learn how to play the mbira. The mbira is a Zimbabwean musical instrument, that sounds amazing. Again I'm sorry no photo's yet but see this link for an idea of what it looks like.... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mbira

Well... why excited... because by this time next month, I will have had another lovely few days in Scotland with lots of other like-minded people and hopefully with some patience, (on my behalf as well as everyone else) I'll have learned a bit more. So thanks to Catherine for introducing me to it.

My favourite parts of these camps, is (apart from the learning) listening to the people who have been playing for years. There is nothing like hearing a group of fantastic musicians playing and singing. I really cannot describe how it sounds and feels, even now, months on from the last time I heard people all playing and singing together, it is still as fresh in my mind. Now, you can't say that about many things can you?

Can't believe it

Well,

Here we are, Wednesday of a new week already. I'm thanking whoever it is that lives upstairs that we do not have snow yet. Now normally I like snow, however my central heating is broken, the lovely Steve (my plumber) is coming on Friday to fit a new pump, until then, I'm resembling the abominable snowman. My friend Sue popped round last night for the shortest visit EVER because of the cold so roll on Friday...I'm gonna crank up the heat and pretend its the Bahamas for the day to celebrate

On the plus side, I've had two comments - from two of my favourite bloggers, so thanks lads. I appreciate it (and the advice too!)

How exciting

I realised something very exciting yesterday. There I was, on my way to work (with a quick deviation to get Soph's birthday present) when I walk past the window of one of Liverpool's most famous landmarks in which is advertised a film. Big wow I know, but this film was filmed very near where I grew up and currently live. I'm going to get tickets for the premiere if I can, but how exciting indeed! I suspect I'll spend the whole time nudging my cinema going buddies going - oh look thats....such and such, If I see my house, I'll end up on the floor. I think its going to be good, if Kathy Burke rates it, thats good enough for me.

Will she ever shut up now

Its a funny old thing this blogging malarkey. Having launched myself into it, I really don't know how to go about it. Do I write this as if to myself, to others or as if no-one were reading it? Technically at the moment no-one is reading it so that sort of solves it for now... but what if someone does.... If you are reading this and can offer an opinion, please do I'd be glad to hear it.

I know its a little boring at the moment, but I'm hoping a certain upcoming event will solve this problem and some lovely photos will ensue!

It is addictive though, this is only my third post, yet somehow I know I'll continue it. No wonder so many people blog! Anyhow I'm off to set up some links (hopefully) so off this post goes into the ether with the previous two!

Perfect present

Today I have felt the joy that is discovering the perfect birthday present. My sister, bless her little cotton socks is known to be lovely, but somewhat fickle. With her birthday being in January, she can often be out of ideas of what she wants (I never have this problem, but I'll go into that at some other time...) after telling us all she wanted the cash, because she's off to Africa this year and is "saving" she decided she'd like something to open too....
I can't really say what this present is - in the hopes that she's going to read this, because she'll know but I'm so pleased that I managed it, with a few days to go! Its such a nice feeling, I more excited by it than she is, because I KNOW she'll love it! Happy Birthday for Sunday baby blister!

New Year .... New Idea

It is with no small degree of trepidation that I am embarking upon this new world of blogland. I have been an admirer, lurker and commenter on so many that I thought I'd have a go myself, not to outdo, replicate or degrade what others have done, or do, but to add my own.. hopefully unique ... thoughts and creations into the mix in the spirit of friendship, creativity and admiration of those who do this blogging thing so well.

Thanks for the inspiration people! You do wonderful things!
