October... already!

I’m not one for “conventional” shopping but by chance I briefly found myself in Liverpool ONE this weekend just gone, and I stumbled upon (or should that be into) Zara Home. I was taken aback by the lovely things why I had not seen or heard of this shop before before…? I’d been into Zara (clothes) a number of times previously with the lovely Steve who is a devotee of said brand. If anyone has one near them, I urge a visit! They have a website too.

Another exciting thing that I shall share is that apparently John Lewis has a new fabrics buyer, which means that we now get to see Amy Butler and Cath Kidston fabrics in their haberdashery departments. I’ve been in the Liverpool store and have bought a few metres already (big shock I know) For a long time I’ve been cross with the lack of variety of their fabric, it all seemed so… uninspired in its variations, I had to resort to El Kilo on London Road, which is great but inconsistent. Please go and visit and buy some, that way they’ll know there is a market for it, because as sure as eggs is eggs they won’t advertise the fact!

The pottery is getting better, I’ve now completed construction of my first “slab pot” and will finish decorating it next week. I might even take my camera to class and let you see it.
I said a while ago too that I was going to show you Beryl… My very kind Auntie Margaret sent Beryl back with Ma and Pa from their visit. I’ve put a vintage dress on her (to protect her dignity!) and I can’t wait to get started and make something on her! Thank you Auntie Margaret, I’ve wanted one of these for a long time!

Days in May

Well,

I won't bore you all with why, but I've been a very busy girl again! I'm now going for "as many days in May that I can humanly manage!

1st of all..... a thankyou, and that thankyou would be to Alison from Foxgloves... she knows why!!!

I had a lovely Trip to Leeds on Saturday with the glamour puss that is Steve... here he is looking very dapper outside Harvey nicks!

He likes shopping as much as I do, so we spent many happy hours trawling Leeds finding lots of lovely things (I did take photo's they just look terrible when I downloaded them - I'll have to take shots again!) I studied in Leeds so its always nice to go back, I wish I did it more often, I keep thinking that some of us bloggers should have an "away day" and meet up... Leeds would be a fab place.... anyhow....

We particularly enjoyed the Corn Exchange where I found the most fabulous stall selling handmade bags. Of course I spent some cash there.....We were very glad to sit down for some light refreshments....

before.......
and after....

He may just kill me for that!!!!!! (please don't!!!)

The Corn Exchange Clock

Present for our friend Bec who unfortunately couldn't come with us

(special mention to Mum's Armoire for providing background.... I have made it something to show my appreciation...)

I hope it likes them!!!!

I've also been working on a little something for the bloggers I couldn't get bookmarks to on time... (with lots of inspiration from Molly Chicken!) here is a little sneak preview!

That's all for now!

I know I promised

I promised a photo post extravaganza... unfortunately I neglected to bring the disk with the software to download the photos.... (silly Sarah) so it will have to wait until my next post.

I'm looking forward to a nice civilised weekend. I'm off to the Lark Lane Farmers market on Saturday with my Mum and Sister where we shall buy lots of nice goodies and have a lovely lunch with what we get! There is a stall that sells homemade preserves and jellies and jams and chutneys - I got some medlar jelly there last time - GORGEOUS - especially with cold cuts. They go to all the farmers markets including Hope St I think so if you are of the scouse persuasion get thee to see them!! (they even give you a little discount when you bring the Jars back!! - how cool is that!)

Have a good one all!

Turned out nice again!

On Friday I seem to remember posting that there were no plans for the weekend.... well this changed. I ended up coming to work with my sister on a mercy mission on Sat (far too long and boring to go into) so that was that and then on sunday.... well I have to admit I slept in 'til 12 and then went to a book shop (yet again did not come out empty handed) but hey - its a book.... no harm ever came from buying books. Then I spent sunday evening cutting out squares for my mum who is making a patchwork for her friends daughter. It will be "our" third this year, after two massive wedding quilts it will be a pleasure just to do a single bed quilt! So still fairly quiet weekend, but good none the less! (despite no time for sculpture) never mind!....here starts the new working week!

Perfect present

Today I have felt the joy that is discovering the perfect birthday present. My sister, bless her little cotton socks is known to be lovely, but somewhat fickle. With her birthday being in January, she can often be out of ideas of what she wants (I never have this problem, but I'll go into that at some other time...) after telling us all she wanted the cash, because she's off to Africa this year and is "saving" she decided she'd like something to open too....
I can't really say what this present is - in the hopes that she's going to read this, because she'll know but I'm so pleased that I managed it, with a few days to go! Its such a nice feeling, I more excited by it than she is, because I KNOW she'll love it! Happy Birthday for Sunday baby blister!
